Somerset Prepared Website

Welcome to the autumn update from the team at Somerset Prepared and in answer to the question - yes you can you help Somerset get prepared!

Community Places of Safety - have you signed up yet?

To help provide local people with safe shelter in an emergency we've teamed up with owners of community halls, churches, sports centres and other venues across Somerset to create a network of facilities across the County. They can be opened at short notice and if required, supported by the Somerset Local Authorities.

If you run a facility suitable for providing safe temporary shelter, why not sign up or find out more - it would be great to have you on board!

As we say goodbye to the summer holidays and look towards the coming winter, it's a good time to review our own personal, community and business preparations for dealing with emergencies. Have you got arrangements in place that could support you in the most challenging of circumstances? If so that's great, why not have a look over them to check they're up to date. If not it's never too late to start! Have a look at our Get Prepared pages to help you along the way.

If you would like some further detailed advice and haven't already - please do get in touch and a member of the team will be glad to help.

Best wishes,

Somerset Local Authorities' Civil Contingencies Unit

Somerset needs you!

Could your local community hall, church, sport centre or other facility provide safe shelter for people in an emergency? If so, the Community Place of Safety scheme is for you.
