September is Emergency Preparedness Month!

When people talk about emergencies you may think of recent tragic events such as the attacks on London and Manchester, recent UK storms and flooding, the Nepal earthquake, the Indonesian tsunami or other global disasters. What if we told you that being prepared is not just for those head-line grabbing incidents? Power cuts, water main bursts, gas leaks, fires, transport strikes, road closures etc. can happen any day. Taking proactive steps to be better prepared will help you not only with everyday emergencies but also with far less likely incidents.

Somerset Prepared will be joining in the preparedness campaign, with a different focus for every week in September.

Week 1- This will be all about People Prepared, how individuals can be more resilient and prepared when it comes to emergencies.

Week 2 - This will be all about Communities Prepared, how communities can be more resilient and prepared when it comes to emergencies

Week 3 - This will be all about Businesses Prepared, how businesses can be more resilient and prepared when it comes to emergencies

Week 4 - This will be all about Volunteering, what structures are in place for you to get involved and how voluntaries help in emergencies.

There will be a post on Somerset Prepared each week as well as tweets on our twitter page! So get involved and visit Somerset Prepared throughout September.
